CSECO proudly recommends its signature product, the Buster K910B Density Meter, also known as Buster Contraband Detector or simply “Buster.” It is the premier hand-held density meter available for contraband detection. The Buster has remained the most recommended by top government and law enforcement agencies not only in the United States but in over 70 countries all over the world.
Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company founder Patrick J. Campbell had previously worked with radioactive elements and designing equipment that used them. He was known for his expertise in that field. The history of the Buster began in the early years of 1980s. Campbell was approached by the federal government who asked him to design a hand-held tool to detect contraband. Campbell said that he was able to design such tool if he would be allowed to work with the non-technical people who would use it regularly. Campbell then worked closely with the US Customs and Border Protection agents. Together, they were able to come up what would be the company’s signature product, the Buster K910B Density Meter or Buster, which used radio isotopes and was made to perform to the specifications they set forth.
That was over 30 years ago. Ever since its creation, the Buster has been used by federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies to detect and seize contraband.
The Buster emits a low-intensity gamma radiation and uses a scintillation detector. It is guaranteed safe for the officers and agents to use. It is also a fast and effective tool to detect contraband in objects such as containers, tires, car doors, fuel tanks, and other objects which may can contain contraband, smuggled or stolen objects (illegal drugs, narcotics, cash, weapons, explosives, jewelry, works of art, or radioactive materials).
Other contraband detectors on the market use radio wave, ultra-violet wave, or microwave technologies but none of them can detect contraband as effectively as the Buster does because of its superior gamma radiation. The Buster is able to detect small differences in an object’s density and is also effective in alerting the user about the presence of contraband. The Buster has both auditory and visual alerts with the hand-held display.
Speed is a necessity when detecting contraband. The Buster provides quicker results than the other density meters in the market. It can scan an average-sized vehicle in less than 5 minutes, and an average-sized room in less than 10 minutes. Scanning much larger vehicles such as tanks or semi trucks may take a little longer. What’s more impressive is that the Buster provides accurate results.
The Buster’s competitors are limited to the surfaces they can scan through – usually only one or two. This makes them very limited to use. The Buster can scan a variety of materials that include metal, wood, dirt, reinforced plastic, liquid and any type of organic matter.
The Buster also comes with a telescoping handle called “Buster on a Stick.” It is an extension pole that attaches to the Buster. This enables the tool to scan harder-to-reach areas such as big and tall fuel tanks, as well as the undersides and tops of tractor trailers or building walls.
The Buster is distinctive when compared with other contraband detectors on the market. It is also able to detect the presence of radioactive materials. The Buster is with RAD-Aware® technology, which enables users who detect the presence of any radioactive material. Once detected, first responders can establish safety perimeters to keep personnel and civilians away from a possible dirty bomb or radioactive release.
