The job of detecting and locating illegal drugs and other contraband is often tricky and has the potential of pulling in danger. That’s why law enforcement agents need something durable, accurate, and easy and safe to use to help them in their daily activities. They want a tool that they can rely on and trust to work each and every time. Fortunately, Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) has the Buster K910B Density Meter to answer to every agent’s need.
Also known simply as Buster, it is the product out of a concept by CSECO founder Patrick J. Campbell, with considerable input from the officers of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Following the introduction of the Buster, incidents of contraband detection and seizures significantly increased, as CBP agents and other law enforcement agents have now a reliable and accurate means of identifying and detecting contraband quickly.
The Buster uses back-scatter technology which allows users to locate the presence of hidden contraband. It uses low-intensity gamma radiation which measures the density of a particular surface being scanned; when it reads an abnormally high level of density, it alerts the user with both audible and visual signals.
Its advanced technology can easily beat all the other contraband detection tools on the market. The Buster can scan different kinds of surface such as wood, metal, and reinforced plastic. In fact, it can read through most types of material. This also includes rubber, any kind of liquid, soil, concrete, paper, stone, and glass.
The Buster can scan anything with a depth of up to six inches. It can be used on gas tanks, but detecting on them can be a particular challenge for the Buster. The lead in gas tanks absorbs the Buster’s gamma rays instead of bouncing it back to the device. So for instance when the lead is present, the reading of the Buster would be much lower instead of a high reading which is the normal reading for an abnormally high level of density — an indication of a hidden contraband. To avoid this problem, CSECO also developed the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System which can actually be inserted into the gas tank so officers can see if there is anything hidden inside.
In their attempt to outplay the Buster, some smugglers would add a layer of lead lining and plating in areas where the contraband is hidden. An officer or agent who is experienced and who knows what to anticipate will immediately notice when lead exists as a deterrent.
Other density meters that use microwave, millimeter wave, radio wave and ultraviolet wave have limiting scanning and detecting capabilities. The Buster K910B can do scan through different kinds of materials and delivers the results within minutes. It can zero in on a specific location of different kinds of contraband such as narcotics, drugs (illegal or prescribed), weapons, currency, jewelry, alcohol, explosives and many more.
And yes, the Buster can also detect abnormal amounts of radiation. It has RAD-Aware technology which allows inspectors or first responders to establish safe perimeters in case of a radioactive leak, and therefore the can keep civilians safe.
Apart from the CBP, the Buster is widely used by several other law enforcement agencies and other government departments such as the US Customs Service, US National Guard, US Coast Guard, US Drug Enforcement Administration, and many others. The Buster is also used by similar agencies in many parts of the world.
Compared to other density meters, the Buster K910B Density Meter’s sophisticated technology allows inspectors and agents to find contraband easily, accurately and quickly.
